The 2016 Ifbb – New Zealand bodybuilding season is now well underway.
The season started with a bang with the first ever International event; The NZIFBB International Pro/Am in March followed by a trip ‘Over the Ditch’ to Australia for a formidable team of NZIFBB athletes to attend the 2016 Arnold Classic in Melbourne.
On Saturday, the 23rd of April 2016, the NZIFBB President Moe ElMoussawi hosted the second show of the New Zealand bodybuilding season; The Counties Manukau. The show took place at the Equippers auditorium in the city of Manukau. Top placing athletes qualified for the 2016 Arnold Classic Hong Kong taking place in August 2016 and the NZIBB National Championships scheduled for the 8th of October this year in the city of Wellington.
The NZIFBB Counties Manukau celebrated a record number of registered athletes this year and was well attended by fans of the sport & athlete supporters from around the North Island. There were 48 total amateur athletes in various categories including Bodybuilding, Figure, Men’s Physique, Bikini, and Classic Physique. Every athlete brought their absolute best on the day however it was the Men’s Physique category that presented the toughest judging decision of the show resulting in many a quarter turn before a final decision could be reached in favor of the overall winner Nate Suen.
The show was run in a one show format, with tough judging decisions in all classes ultimately resulting in the following overall winners:
- Open Bodybuilding: Carl Cocker
- Figure: Sarah Malthus
- Men′s Physique: Nate Suen
- Bikini: Nicola McPherson
- Classic Physique: 1st Place - Rex Braganza
